Won Ton Soup

My recipe – you may find better on the net.

250 grams of minced pork or chicken
1 cup finely chopped shallots
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Mix well. Add pepper to taste, but omit salt due to soy sauce. Add 1-2 tablespoons to a square won ton wrapper. (I buy mine from the dairy / cold meats case at IGA). Today I wrapped mine in a typical tortellini style, but there are DOZENS of ways to fold them – purse, envelope, ect. A youtube search should find you some wonderful instructions for folding them.

In a pot, add some chicken stock. Bring to boil and add the won tons. After 5 minutes, add some thin sliced carrot, baby corn, brocolli spears and ramen noodles. Cook for a further 5 minutes before serving with freshly cut shallots for garnish.

Egg drop variation: Sometimes, instead of ramen noodles, Ill turn this soup into an egg drop for the protein. Beat an egg in a bowl, and just before serving, use a fork to drizzle the egg into the boiling broth. It will cook instantly and give it an awesome eggy goodness!
